Energy services are essential for human well being and prosperity. Yet a third of the humanity does not have access to affordable energy services. This is a crucial energy challenge that remains largely unresolved while new ones have emerged including the need for secure and reliable energy and to drastically reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and eventually eliminate them altogether. Options do exist that could resolve many of these challenges simultaneously, but they all require a vigorous increase in research and development and most of all a drastic increase of energy investments worldwide.
ENERGEX 2008 in Vienna will assemble leading energy experts and policy makers from the whole world for four days to consider ways forward on the main energy challenges, which options could be deployed to resolve them, how they can help avoid dangerous climate change and perhaps most importantly consider energy measures and policies that can help transform the energy system and bring about the paradigm change necessary to achieve a more sustainable development paths in the world. Some of the most renowned keynote speakers will lead the seven plenary and thirteen parallel sessions.
ENERGEX 2008 will be concluded with a distinguished panel addressing the ways forward on the multiple energy challenges.
